Here Comes Video Effects!

April 19, 2010

One of the most exciting videos I ever made.. HAHA

I almost killed myself editing this video actually..

I realise that I actually forgot to include this problem I had in my learning log.. When I was filming the video.. I accidentally video-ed myself in the video as “reflections” and “shadows”.. it was kind of disturbing for me and i manually edited it off or cover it with solid..

Well overall I had a really great time filming and many many thanks to all my actors and actresses! thanks my friends who pulled time off the enjoyment of samuel’s birthday party to help out in my video! A BIG THANK YOU once again for all the wonderful acting skills!

Final Project Presentations

April 6, 2010

Today’s lesson was particularly interesting for me.. I was really happy to see all the videos done by our classmates! After all the hard work that we put in, all the sleepless nights.. Our product is finally done! I really feel proud of myself and also for everyone who put in all their efforts to produce what we saw today.. Kudos to everyone!

Even though the sem has not ended and so the module, I’ve began to think about what I started with and what I have learned now.. Like what Julian have said, we did managed to learn some skills and knowledge that would benefit us for life.. I bet many of us have the mentality that we can always rely on someone who is better verse at a certain program when we chose this module (thinking its all project group work).. well for me.. I was all set to learn some new skills that are practical for my future career.. I didn’t want to rely on someone else.. That’s probably the reason why I forced myself to learn things individually and try not to give up and get help so easily.. There are many people out there who can pick up skills and knowledge themselves.. Why can’t I? I felt that all I needed was some pressure/force that will drive me to pick up new skills and I totally felt that NM3208 was the module for it.. And no doubt, I picked up After effect, Premiere Pro and many other programs that used to be so foreign and unfamiliar to me.. I really appreciate this chance to gain better skills in design..

Due to this module, I found some interest in Video filming and editing.. I liked how I could direct actors in our NUS advertisement, making sure that their actions are nice and appropriate.. their every move should be perfect for our video.. the framing of our videos.. its soooooo cool!

Well.. so much of reflecting, I should be finishing up my kinetic typography and my video effects video NOW!

Final Project: Start your life’s journey at NUS…

Assignment 6: Update!

March 27, 2010

I’m done with the filming! Yay!

I changed my story totally though. The idea came from my friend though, we were talking about the plot at my friend’s 21st birthday party at Aloha Loyang when she started talking about Mr. and Mrs Smith..

———————————-

I decided to name my video Mr. and Mrs. Ordinary or something.. Not really decided yet.. The story starts from a scene in a kitchen where a wife was trying to cook dinner but she doesn’t even know how to operate e stove.. Out of frustration and anger, she decided to use super powers that her husband did not know of.. It came out that the food she cooked was disgusting and the husband used his powers to make e food disappear when her back was turned..

in the middle of the nite, a villain on the move killed everyone he/she came across: the young, the strong, the woman, and the crippled..  the husband sensed something, he left e room quietly.. he turned out to be a Uberman.. he came to stop e villain n after a fierce battle he killed e villain.. as he approaches e dead body, he removed his/her hoodie and it turned out dat e villain was his wife..

———————————–

its quite a drama plot i though.. its more of a comedy den a serious drama.. I’ll like to thank my friends who participate in every way or another to help me with this video!

Final Project: Our University and/or CNM Department

March 22, 2010

I can’t believe that I almost forgot to blog about this!

for this project, we had to produce 2 videos:

1. NUS Advertisement: “Starting your journey here..”

The inspiration for this video came from Johnny Walker’s keep walking concept which depicts life as a journey. Thus, our group decide to work on that and we depict NUS as the university to start your career life.

We filmed our video on 13 March 2010 which was on one of the Open House days. It was quite an experience! Me, Luolan and our friend, Jiaxing, set out at 10am in the morning to start the filming. We started off at the UCC where we filmed the beginning and end of the advertisement. Our filming was disrupted by the human traffic that was entering the school for the open house. But luckily, we managed to pull it off after trying stunts like stopping the cars that were entering UCC (we were filming at the doorsteps of UCC and the reflection of the cars on the glass doors were definitely disruptive!).

To show the different career paths offered by the school, we traveled to different faculties and schools to do the filming. Traveling was not a problem as I had a car and the carparks were all free for parking due to the open house (Yay!). We only needed sometime to find the best angles for every different scene.

The filming ended in 4 hours. We would like to thank Jiaxing for taking his time on a Saturday morning for the filming!

2. NUS Documentary: A Day in School

Its a really simple documentary we have of a girl’s 1 day in school. At first we got Nan Nan to help us out as the main lead. However, as she had lesson going on, Luolan decided that I should take over as the main lead. Sin Yee tagged along with us and helped us with some of the filming.

We went to different places like the Com 2 bus stop, Computing School Lab, the Deck, KE7 Hostel Room and KE7 Studyroom for the filming. We had a really fun time filming. The most eventful moment was when we wanted to film us playing badminton on a driveway, it rained! Luckily, we were able to do it indoors and we were able to complete our filming in 4 hours time.

We took some photos on the way.. I’ll try to update if i get hold of them!

Assignment 6: Video Effect

March 21, 2010

I’m racking my brain for ideas.. But I was kind of inspired by a show dat i watched not too long ago.. It revolves around the power of music.. I’m thinking of creating an artifical world for my setting where people can either sing or use musical instruments to use their magical powers to fight and also to heal people. Now, I need a plot first! Still thinking.. Update in a while~~~~
